Survival Suit

January 8th, 2009 by Ken Mankoff

This is supposed to keep me alive for a few hours in cold water. We
practiced climbing into the lifeboat too. 76 people, side-to-side
and knee-to-knee. We were told there would be no food or drink for
the first 24 hours, then disgusting high-calorie food rations. Good
thing I brought my travel Scrabble(TM)(R) board.

But I’m not too worried and you shouldn’t be either. Yes, a tourist
boat gets rescued each year in Antarctica, but this is an
ice-breaking research vessel, not a tourist boat, and I trust our
captain is higher calibre than your average tourist boat captain.
