Christchurch Arrival
October 2nd, 2007 by Ken Mankoff
Well I've made it to Christchurch, NZ after 34 hours of travel and four airports. Our greeting was a harsh spring storm with temperatures about 0C and freezing rain and snow blowing sideways. Probably nothing compared to the next time I exit an aeroplane. Now, about 1 hour later it is warm and the sun is out.
The flights were fine. I haven't gotten 10 hour of sleep in a few weeks, but I did from LAX to Auckland. I'll be here for a week exploring the city and doing outreach events.
I've been asked by a bunch of people what I packed for 2.5 month in Antarctica. I think that'll be my next post. Hint: Not much, weighing in at less than 40 pounds.
