Ouch! Maybe I don't want to go
May 12th, 2007 by Ken Mankoff
I've just found out from a web search for health requirements for Antarctica that I might need to have my wisdom teeth removed. I have all four and they don't cause any problems, so hopefully this requirement isn't set in stone.
The one communication I've had after being accepted is a request for my address so that a medical kit can be mailed. I have to get extensive checkups from a dentist and doctor, and can only go if I pass all the tests. I'm guessing the medical kit will let me know if I need major oral surgery or not.
Wow… It is happening already. My second post and I'm already discussing dental hygiene with complete strangers.
Good thing I don't have cats
Edit 2007-05-19: I just got the medical documents. I get to keep my wisdom teeth!
